Why More Than the Menu Wins Rave Revues

By Shannon Garner

A little under a year ago, a friend of mine introduced me to this amazing restaurant on Hillsborough Street called Coco Bongo. Coco Bongo is a Mexican restaurant where you can find some amazing food, fantastic drinks, and a laid back environment. As soon as you step foot through the door, you can feel a positive atmosphere. From the first time I went into that establishment, I knew I had found a nice refuge. Not only does Coco Bongo have some of the best Mexican food I can find in the Eastern region of the United States, but it also has phenomenal customer service. The minute you walk in, there’s always someone watching to make sure you’re assisted immediately.

Coco Bongo Restaurant signTo me, Coco Bongo’s best feature is its customer service. The people who work there are extremely nice and accommodating. Being a person with a visual impairment, it’s important for me to find places where the people are willing to assist you if you need it. Everyone is friendly, and always willing to help whenever they can. Also, it always feels good to go into a place where you’re treated the same as everyone else.

Since I’m now a regular I thoroughly enjoy talking to the staff.  I even ask them to try and guess my drink order for the day. The only thing the servers do differently for me than for the other people in the restaurant is they tell me when and where they place something on the table. This ensures that I don’t knock anything over and make a mess. For this, I am grateful.

This establishment is a must-visit. If you’re looking for delicious food, tasty drinks, an overall good time and terrific service, Coco Bongo is the place to go.  I’ve taken everyone from my co-workers to my hairstylist and never received any complaints. It saddens me that I can’t go right now due to the Coronavirus. But, when things get back to normal, grab a friend and join me down at Coco Bongo. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
