Bringing Back Those Smiles

Bringing Back Those Smiles - John's Blog Post

January was a rough month for me personally.  I started the year off feeling sluggish and weak.  During this time, I didn’t feel like myself. I didn’t have the enthusiasm and vigor that I usually have. So, I went to the doctor and they diagnosed me with hyperactive thyroid, which was causing me to feel the way I was. However, the Endocrinologist said there wasn’t a medicine for me to take, but rather I had to wait it out. After several rough days, I gradually started to feel a little bitter as the days passed. And my smile and laughter started to come back and I was able to feel like myself again!

There was actually a medicine that I was immediately prescribed by my Primary Doctor, which made me feel better immediately, but when the specialist looked at my records, they took me off the medicine. The reason was, if I had continued to take the medicine that I was originally prescribed, I would have to be on it for the rest of my life. However, the specialist realized that my case didn’t require that, so they took me off. And I’m so grateful they did!

This experience reminds me of many of the organizations that we talk to, who come to us because they recently were served with a demand letter or complaint about the accessibility of their website. They come wanting a quick fix to their problem. What they are looking for is something like a widget or overlay, which promises to be the cure for their ailment, but it’s not the right solution. These options don’t cure the underlying issue, but rather cover it up, and you will be reliant on those solutions forever.

At Ablr, our team is dedicated to truly taking the time to understand the issues of our customers, and work with them to come up with a solution that will cure their problems. This takes time, and it can be difficult at the beginning, but it does get easier. And like me, I’ve seen our clients come to us with no vigor or excitement around accessibility, but over time, those frowns turn upside down, and there are actual smiles!

I don’t think there were any preventative actions I could have taken before I got sick, but there are for accessibility. I encourage you to get your sites checked out and keep an eye on the health of your site. If you do this, you won’t have to worry about any surprises, because you will be assured that your site is in good shape!

Thank you to my team, who kept my spirits up, with tea and happiness, and for my loving family, who nurtured my heart with love and food.

So, as you start to think about your accessibility needs, let us serve you, and help treat your issues, and I promise you we will bring the smiles back!
