Pre-Employment Transition Services
Ablr Futures Virtual Program

Ablr Futures is a virtual, after-school and Summer Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) program designed for high school and college students who are blind or visually impaired. Our programs empower students to explore career options, build real-world skills, and develop the confidence to advocate for themselves while maintaining choice and control over their own future.

We partner with Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) agencies, families, and schools to provide concrete, skills-based programming that prepares students for college, careers, and the evolving world of work.

Career Pathways
Explore opportunities with long-term growth potential.

Students gain exposure to real-world careers, industry partnerships, and in-demand roles—helping them make informed decisions about their future. Ensure your student is exploring meaningful career options early, setting the foundation for independence and long-term success.

Connect with guides who inspire and support.

Our program pairs students with mentors who provide guidance, encouragement, and insights from real-world experience helping students navigate education, careers, and life skills. Encourage your student to build lasting connections that open doors and boost confidence for life beyond school.

Hands-on experiences that prepare students for work and life.

Through structured projects, internships, and applied learning, students develop transferable skills, communication, problem-solving, and technical abilities that translate directly into career success. Support your student in gaining practical skills that will make them workplace-ready and future-focused.

Our Throughlines
Self-Advocacy, Choice & Design Thinking

Everything we do in Ablr Futures is grounded in three core throughlines that shape how students learn, explore, and grow:

Self-Advocacy

Students learn how to communicate their needs, strengths, and goals, whether that means requesting accommodations, speaking confidently about their skills, or navigating new environments. Self-advocacy is woven into every program area, helping students build confidence and independence.

Choice

We believe students who are blind or visually impaired should have options. Ablr Futures is not about pushing students toward a single career path, it’s about helping them explore possibilities, reflect on what matters to them, and make informed decisions about what comes next.

Design Thinking

Design Thinking provides a practical framework students use to explore challenges, test ideas, and learn through action. Students are encouraged to empathize, ask questions, experiment, and learn skills that translate directly to college, careers, and life. Across all Ablr Futures programs, we intentionally nurture the following transferable skills:

  • Curiosity – asking questions, exploring interests, and seeking new perspectives
  • Critical Thinking – evaluating information, solving problems, and making informed decisions
  • Collaboration – working effectively with peers, mentors, and professionals
  • Courage – trying new things, taking risks, and advocating for oneself
  • Compassion – understanding others’ experiences and building inclusive communities

“Ablr has not only helped me improve my communication and leadership skills, but also given me belief in my capabilities and dreams. Ablr Not only gives inspiration and support—but also something much more important—hope.”

Anna, Student

Intention. Action. Alignment.
Future Ready Starts Present Focused.

Students build foundational skills needed for success in school, work, and life. Rather than abstract concepts, we focus on practical applications.

Students will:

  • Learn how to talk about their strengths, interests, and experiences – Create or refine a resume and professional introduction
  • Build their network through engagement with guest speakers and on LinkedIn
  • Practice professional communication (email, virtual meetings, follow-up) – Explore what “personal brand” means through real examples (e.g., how someone presents themselves online, in class, or in an interview)

Outcome: Students gain confidence presenting themselves to teachers, employers, and mentors.
