For Parents of
High School and Early College Students Who Are Blind or Have Low Vision

A Future Built with Support, Direction, and Opportunity
Raising a teenager who is blind or has low vision often comes with important questions about education, independence, and what comes next. At Ablr, we partner with families, schools, and communities to help students move confidently from high school and early college into meaningful career pathways.

Our role is not to inspire through stories alone, but to provide structured education, real-world experiences, and trusted guidance, so students can explore options, build skills, and make informed decisions about their futures.

Ablr works alongside students during a critical transition period. We recognize that every learner is different, and there is no single definition of success. Our programs are designed to listen first, then respond with individualized education, mentorship, and hands-on opportunities that align with each student’s strengths, interests, and goals.

Students are supported by professionals who understand both the technical demands of today’s workforce and the lived experience of disability. This creates an environment built on respect, high expectations, and practical preparation.

Through partnerships with schools, Pre-ETS programs, and state services, Ablr provides structured learning experiences that help students:

  • Explore career pathways early
  • Build transferable workplace and technology skills
  • Understand professional expectations
  • Develop confidence through practice, not pressure

Hands-On
Experiences with Real Professionals

Students don’t just learn about work. They experience it.

Ablr creates opportunities for students to engage in real-world projects, internships, and applied learning alongside mentors and industry professionals. These experiences allow students to:

  • Test interests in authentic settings
  • Practice communication and collaboration
  • Receive constructive feedback
  • Identify career directions that genuinely fit
  • This approach helps students and families make thoughtful, informed choices about next steps.
  • Mentorship That Listens and Guides

Mentorship is central to our work.

Ablr connects students with professionals who listen, guide, and support, without assumptions. This is guidance rooted in experience, patience, and trust.

Mentors help students:

  • Navigate questions about work and independence
  • Build self-advocacy skills
  • Set realistic, meaningful goals
  • Understand long-term career possibilities

Partnering with
Parents and Educators

Parents and educators are essential partners in a student’s journey. Ablr collaborates closely with families, schools, and counselors to ensure alignment, transparency, and shared expectations. Our goal is to complement, not replace, the support systems already in place, while expanding access to opportunities that may not otherwise be available.

An Inclusive
Path Forward

At Ablr, inclusion means preparation, access, and opportunity. We believe students who are blind or have low vision deserve the same thoughtful career development, high standards, and meaningful options as their peers. We are here to help students build direction, not through inspiration alone, but through education, experience, and support that lasts.

Together, we can help students move forward with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

The Ablr Program
Success Stories

“The work-based learning opportunity with the Ablr Accessibility Team was a great experience for me, and the Future of Work program helped me understand what employers are really looking for and how technology is shaping careers. I also learned that learning never really stops, especially in tech, and that mindset will continue to guide me as I pursue Computer Science.”

Caden – PreETS Student

“Ablr Futures didn’t just prepare my child for a job—it prepared them for life after high school. From communication skills to self-advocacy, this program gave my child tools that every parent hopes their child will have.”

Smita Saxena – Parent of PreETS Student
