Ablr Works Adult Program
The Ablr Works Adult Program delivers employer-aligned training, career readiness, and job placement services for adults who are blind or have low vision, in partnership with State Divisions of Services for the Blind and Vocational Rehabilitation. Through structured training, individualized counseling, and coordinated employer engagement, the program supports Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE), measurable skill gains, credential attainment, and sustained employment outcomes. And our instructors have lived experiences supporting our students through the entire process.

Ablr Works Program Milestones
The following six milestones can be customized to fit each individual’s needs. Our goal is to help people reach their full potential in the career that best fits their skills.
To create a customized journey, we start with:
Technology skills and career goals assessment
This comprehensive assessment explores the candidate’s modern workforce technical skills, assistive technology (AT) use, and barriers to employment as well as current employment goals.
After the Assessment milestone, participants can choose from:
Leveling up
Leveling up is an 8-week intensive course focused on increasing proficiency and efficiency to thrive in the workplace. There are two educational tracks:
- Foundational computer skills (video conferencing, assistive technology, file management, and Microsoft Office)
- Essential AI Skills for the Workplace.
Career exploration and Readiness
A 3-month engagement to build professional skills and workplace readiness. Includes access to career panel speakers, mentorship opportunities, job shadowing experiences, and training in professional communication, self-advocacy, time management, and workplace etiquette.
Customized technical skills training
Technical skills training for a period of 16 to 22 weeks, depending on the pathway. Training prepares candidates to sit for internationally recognized certification exams in their chosen field. Pathways currently include Digital Accessibility, Customer Relationship Management (Salesforce), and IT Help Desk.
Paid internship program
Up to 24 weeks of paid internship at various internship sites. Most opportunities are remote, with some hybrid or in-person roles depending on the area of interest. Internships allow Candidates to gain real-world experience, build their resumes, and develop valuable workplace connections.
Career support and Job coaching
Up to 12 months of individualized job search support and career coaching. Includes access to weekly coaching sessions, accountability check-ins, networking assistance, and support with resumes, applications, and interviews. This milestone supports Candidates in achieving long-term employment success.

Technical Requirements
To participate in Ablr’s Workforce Development Program, students need access to certain technology. Please let us know whether you currently have this technology or can obtain it before the program begins.
- Reliable internet connection
- Windows Laptop – Minimum specifications: 16GB RAM and at least 256GB of available storage
- Zoom desktop client (free download)
- Microsoft Office Suite – Including Outlook and Teams
- USB Computer Headset – With a built-in microphone
- Web Browsers – Firefox and Google Chrome
- Assistive Technology – JAWS, Fusion, NVDA, or any other preferred/required assistive technology to successfully participate in the program.

Ablr values its state partnerships and works in close alignment with state agencies to deliver this program statewide and beyond.
The Ablr Works Program is currently supported through state partnerships in the following states: North Carolina, Massachusetts, Iowa, Rhode Island, Vermont, Delaware, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
