Ablr Works Adult Program


The Ablr Works Adult Program delivers employer-aligned education, career readiness, and job placement services for adults who are blind or have low vision, in partnership with State Divisions of Services for the Blind and Vocational Rehabilitation. Through structured training, individualized counseling, and coordinated employer engagement, the program supports Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE), measurable skill gains, credential attainment, and sustained employment outcomes. And our instructors have lived experiences supporting our students through the entire process.

Technical Requirements

To participate in Ablr’s Workforce Development Program, students need access to certain technology. Please let us know whether you currently have this technology or can obtain it before the program begins.

  • Reliable internet connection
  • Windows Laptop – Minimum specifications: 16GB RAM and at least 256GB of available storage
  • Zoom desktop client (free download)
  • Microsoft Office Suite – Including Outlook and Teams
  • USB Computer Headset – With a built-in microphone
  • Web Browsers – Firefox and Google Chrome
  • Assistive Technology – JAWS, Fusion, NVDA, or any other preferred/required assistive technology to successfully participate in the program.

Applicants are expected to answer the following questions thoughtfully and to the best of their ability. Questions 1–6 require short-answer responses that demonstrate care, clarity, and effort.

  4. This program may require you to use unfamiliar tools or software, how do you usually approach learning new technology? 
  5. What challenges are you currently facing in finding or keeping a job?
  6. What are your goals 90 days after completing the program?
  • This program expects professionalism, engagement, and a growth mindset. Do you agree to these expectations? (Yes/No)
  • Are you able to participate in this program 20+ hours per week? (Yes/No)
  • What assistive tech do you use most often? (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, ZoomText): Write N/A, if not applicable. 
  • Rate your comfort using the technology you listed in question 9. (Not yet familiar, Beginner, Proficient, Advanced)

Ablr values its state partnerships and works in close alignment with state agencies to deliver this program statewide and beyond.

The Ablr Works Program is currently supported through state partnerships in the following states, with additional collaborations in progress: North Carolina, Tennessee, Rhode Island, Vermont and Delaware. 

Florida, Massachusetts, California, Virginia and South Carolina are coming soon. Make sure to discuss this program with your counselor.
