If you’ve read the Ablr newsletter before, you know that June is my favorite month, and it’s all because of the NBA Draft!
As a longtime Charlotte Hornets fan, the draft has always represented hope. The Hornets have historically underperformed, and each draft felt like our best shot at finding the player who could finally end the NBA’s longest active playoff drought and maybe, and just maybe , one day bring us a Championship!
But this year is different. I’m not leaning on that same kind of hope, because for the first time in a long time, the Hornets have shown genuine promise with the team they already have. Do I still want to land a great player in the draft? Absolutely! But the excitement this year comes from knowing we already have something real to build on.
That feeling of a new kind of hope? I’m experiencing it at Ablr too.
In earlier years, I’d approach each new fiscal year waiting for the breakthrough – the one big client, the one new deal that would change everything. But as I worked through our budget and plan for the coming year, something stood out – predictability! Real, earned predictability. Our team has been showing up with a growth mindset, deepening relationships with our customers, taking initiative, and building trust with one another, and living our core values of GRIT!
Starting a business is hard. Getting everyone aligned around a mission and set of values is even harder, even when those values are genuinely good. But eight years after founding LCI Tech , which became Ablr, I have a new sense of hope. Not the kind that depends on landing a big contract or launching the next program, but the kind rooted in growing alongside the team we have, the clients we serve, and the incredible Candidates who have trusted us to walk this journey with them!
And none of this is possible without you! Thank you for being part of this community and for helping us grow in ways we never imagined. Thank you for helping us earn a place on the Forbes 2026 Accessibility 200 List. And as we step into a new fiscal year, we are ready and genuinely excited to reach even greater heights together!
And as I write this note, the Carolina hurricanes are up 1 – 0 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Championship, with the chance to clinch the NHL title! So, while I wait for the Hornets to win a NBA Championship, I’m so excited to cheer on my hometown hockey team (and Ablr client and partner!) and enjoy this run – and see what’s possible when you have a great team! Go Canes!
